MR RENTAL ROCKINGHAM INSPIRED BY SOLO SAILOR

March 22, 2010

The team at Mr Rental Rockingham has recently had the opportunity to contribute to the brave quest of gifted local solo sailor, Jamie Dunross.

Franchisees Kier and Sam Forsyth were so inspired by Mr Dunross’ accomplishments and aspirations when they met him recently at a local business fair, that they invited him to attend a store meeting and share his vision with the rest of the team.

“Jamie wants to become the first quadriplegic yachtsman to sail around the world single-handed and unassisted, and he plans to do this after achieving his first milestone, and that is to circumnavigate Australia,” Mr Forsyth said.

According to Mr Forsyth, his team members were encouraged by Mr Dunross’ story of victory and overcoming adversity, that began when became a C5 quadriplegic after a gold pouring accident at Meekatharra in 1988.

“Jamie achieved a gold medal at the 2000 Paralympic Games, has already broken a number of Australian records, and is preparing to sail his yacht Spirit of Rockingham around Australia as part of the preparation for his global odyssey,” Mr Forsyth said.

“On Jamie’s return Spirit of Rockingham will be involved in a sailing program operating from the proposed Rockingham Marina. The program will be designed for disabled and disadvantaged members of the public in a hope to highlight those people’s abilities and also demonstrate what people can achieve against all odds when they put their mind to it.”

Mr Forsyth said he made a donation of $1000 to Mr Dunross’ cause, to thank him for taking the time to share his inspirational story with his team members.

The Mr Rental network is committed to supporting community objectives and empowering those within the community to achieve their aspirations.

The service offered by Mr Rental franchises across Australia has grown in demand among local families, due to a trend of renting rather than buying white goods and appliances, particularly in the current economy.

“Renting is an attractive option for families looking to maximise their cashflow by not having to purchase big ticket items outright, while ensuring they’re not denying their family’s basic needs,” Mr Forsyth said.

“We supply fridges, TV’s, washers, dryers, televisions, sound systems, game consoles and even furniture and fitness equipment within 24 hours and look after any repairs or issues with any of the appliances,” he said.
