A fourth generation sheep farming family have traded their sheep stations in west New South Wales for a completely different lifestyle and business, having just opened a new Mr Rental store in Coffs Harbour.
Joy and Ross Grimm moved 1,400 km from their previous life to start afresh with a brand new business and home.
“When the effects of the drought hit, we made the difficult decision to leave behind everything we knew and move to greener pastures, quite literally" Mr Grimm said.
Having been born and raised on one of the sheep stations, it was a difficult decision for Mr Grimm and his family.
“It wasn’t a decision that was very easily reached and we spent a long time looking for the right business – one that would allow us to utilize our skills, particularly in distribution and client interaction, but would also allow us the luxury of having weekends off, after a lifetime of working 24/7 on the farm," Mr Grimm said.
According to Mr Grimm, Coffs Harbour not only provided the perfect lifestyle for his family, but also the ideal location to start this particular type of business.
“Coffs Harbour unfortunately has a high rate of unemployment right now, as well as a large proportion of single mothers, so it is a community that we felt will benefit from a local Mr Rental."
“Renting is an attractive option for families looking to maximise their cashflow by not having to purchase big ticket items outright, while ensuring they’re not denying their family’s basic needs," Mr Grimm said.
Indeed, the service offered by Mr Rental franchises across Australia has grown in demand among local families, due to a trend of renting rather than buying white goods and appliances, particularly in the current economy.
“We supply fridges, TV’s, washers, dryers, televisions, sound systems, game consoles and even furniture within 24 hours and look after any repairs or issues with any of the appliances," he said.
“It takes a great deal of courage to leave a life you are familiar with and try something completely different. We welcome this inspirational family and look forward to watching their business go from strength to strength,"" Mr Rental General Manager, Alan Payne, said.
