Mr Rental Toowoomba and Mr Rental Ipswich have just been named 2nd Runner Up in the Franchise Council Australia (FCA) 2009 Awards Multi-Unit Franchisee category.
Franchisees Mark and Liz Norman opened Mr Rental Toowoomba in June 2003 and the Ipswich store a few months later, in December 2003, building a team of ten employees across both stores.
Finalists for the FCA Awards were judged across many different categories, including their business performance, leadership, involvement within both the franchise group and local community, among many others.
According to Mr Rental General Manager, Alan Payne, Mr and Mrs Norman are successful in business across numerous areas.
“The Toowoomba and Ipswich stores are highly regarded among the Mr Rental national network, and we have invited Mark on many occasions to be a speaker presenting ‘Successful Franchisee Concepts’ at the training sessions held when new franchisees commence, and also as a speaker at last year’s state conference," he said.
“Mark and Liz are very active in following and supporting the Mr Rental systems and engage with the National Support Office at every opportunity with feedback. They also are open to learning from others, and have visited twelve Mr Rental stores in Australia and nine in New Zealand over the last six years."
Mr Payne commended Mr Norman’s social responsibility and involvement in the local community, which ranges from his service as a member of the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club of Toowoomba, to donations, sponsorship and involvement with the Cancer Council, Red Cross, Rangeville State School, Jon Brook Cycling Classic, Toowoomba Bears Junior Rugby Union Club, Murray Greys Cycling group, Allstar Gymnastics Academy, Toowoomba Hospital Foundation, Milne Bay Military Museum, Toowoomba & Darling Downs Diabetic Group, Wattles Junior Rugby League Club and the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation.
Mr Rental Toowoomba has recently opened a new showroom featuring the entire rental range across 120m of floor space.
“Phone calls are taken by the store, so the showroom team can give their full attention to the customer. The new premises has only been operating since December 2008 but already the walk in traffic has increased by more than 100%," Mr Norman said.
