The magic of recurring revenue

Based on a very profitable long-term business model of recurring revenue Mr Rental provides excellent cash-flow and income. Your business makes the sale just once, and then gets paid for it time and time again!

Rent an appliance and your customer continues to pay you weekly rental for on average of 15 months. The average rental life of your products is 5 years, do the sums and as a franchisee you can expect fantastic returns on your stock investments!

Support and stability

As a Franchisee you are supported by a committed and passionate team at the National Support Office (NSO) in Brisbane, Queensland. Support is provided by a team of 25 people in the areas of operations, IT, marketing, HR and training, events, products and purchasing, finance and administration.

Mr Rental provides extensive training and we have all the tools that will help make it simple for you to succeed.

Mr Rental franchisees come from a wide variety of backgrounds from accounting, finance, sales, marketing, trades, farming, customer service and more! The one thing they all share is a desire to succeed, a great attitude, good work ethic, are team players and all are looking for work/ life balance.

FCA's Franchisor of the Year 2010 – It’s official

Mr Rental is the Franchise Council of Australia’s 2010 Established Franchisor of the Year.

Having only been franchising just over 11 years, Mr Rental has grown from one store on Bribie Island (which still exists today) to a network of over 90 stores throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Store numbers and growth are often used by Franchise companies to promote their system above others but really they only tell part of the business story.

“Without the systems and processes in place to manage this growth effectively many reach a point where they are no longer positioned internally to manage the business effectively or efficiently this impacts all customers.  History tells us, we have learnt from others past mistakes as such we have a constant focus on innovation to increase efficiency and bottom line profit. This means Mr Rental is better managed and more prepared for growth than many franchises twice its size.” James Nixon-Smith, Managing Director

The strength of the Mr Rental franchise system is demonstrated by steady growth, happy franchisees, happy customers and regular high listings on sites such as www.topfranchise.com.au

Economic times

Tough economic times have minimal affect and business is expected to grow simply because we make the cost of living more affordable. This means the business is always well positioned to ride out times of economic uncertainty as more families look to renting as a cost effective alternative to buying when budgets are tight.

Customers like the flexibility of renting it allows people to have the latest and greatest appliances, furniture and technology, basic appliances all the things they need at a price they can afford at the time.

Work/life balance

For franchisees searching for the seemingly illusive work/life balance, Mr Rental’s business model is ideal.  Business hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm and our culture encourages living life by ‘above the line’ values – ownership, accountability and responsibility.

Mr Rental is focused on cultivating and maintaining an environment of hardworking, enthusiastic and happy franchisees. In 2008/2009 & 2010 Mr Rental was a Top 10 Finalist in the 10,000 Feet National Franchise Survey for Franchisee Satisfaction.

The business’ focus on innovation also leads to ongoing improvements in franchisees’ work/life balance. This is proven by the recent introduction of IT improvements designed to improve systems and efficiency.

“We have been able to tangibly show franchisees they’ve regained more than two and a half hours a week to work on their businesses as a result our IT improvements over the past 12 months,” says Mr Nixon-Smith.

Brand recognition

Mr Rental’s past 18 months marketing activity has lead to brand awareness increasing from 11% to 48% amongst the target audience in Australia and 78% in New Zealand.

In 2007 the business re-branded and introduced the Rental family of characters to create a market presence that is clearly making an impact, reflected in sales leads and brand awareness.

Regular catalogues, radio and television advertising and a constant focus on bringing the brand to life, has added significant value to the core business of renting.

Added to this Mr Rental in 2010 won the highly coveted the MYOB Franchise Council of Australia Marketing Excellence Award and in New Zealand the Westpac New Zealand Franchise Awards Media Campaign of the Year.
